The Black Doctoral Network is leading the next generation of Black scholars to reach new heights. Encouraging intellectual curiosity and transformative research, the Black Doctoral Network is a bridge leader, creating paths between scholars, disciplines, and academic universities all while serving as an invaluable connection between higher education and the community at large.

Conference Information:
We invite you to join us in-person this October in the city of Atlanta for our the BDN national conference. The conference will be hosted at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis (265 Peachtree Center Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30303). 

BDN2023 brings together both world renowned and emergent scholars and professionals from the social sciences, STEM and humanities to function as a resource, a support system, as a space of intellectual exchange, and a place to create connections and develop collaborations.

The health and safety of our conference participants remains our highest priority. The Black Doctoral Network (BDN) is monitoring the on-going COVID-19 Pandemic and is prepared to manage our in-person events with the health, safety, and well-being of our attendees, presenters, exhibitors, sponsors, speakers, staff and guests in mind.

In order to receive the member discount, please log in or join before registering for the conference. 

All registration types include breakfast on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and lunch on Thursday and Friday.

Hotel Accommodations: 

To ensure that you receive accommodations at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, please secure your reservation as soon as possible. The Black Doctoral Network Inc. has negotiated a sleeping room rate of $219/night (doubles & singles) for all BDN Conference guests at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights (surrounding dates are also available). The limited discounted hotel rooms are first come first serve. We have no control over availability beyond our initial agreement. To receive the discounted rate of $219, you must tell the hotel that you are part of the Black Doctoral Network Conference. Reservations must be made by or before October 5, 2023.

Parking Information:

There is a negotiated discount for valet parking of $32 for overnight parking and $25 for the commuter drivers for the day parking at the hotel. 

Refund Policy:

Registration fees are refundable up until September 22, 2023. No refunds will be granted starting September 22, 2023.

Presenter Information: 

Presenters may not take part in more than one panel presentation; presenters may give one and only one paper at the conference.  Presentations will be scheduled for Thursday, October 19, Friday, October 20 and Saturday, October 21. Specific details pertaining to your presentation are forthcoming later this summer (end of August). Fifteen minutes will be allotted for panel presentations that have up to two presenters. Forty-five minutes will be allotted for panel presentations that have three or more presenters. Sixty minutes will be allotted for all workshop presentations.
